  • What is Extra Life Lycra? What ExtraLife Lycra Swimwear Do We Sell?
Xtra Life Lycra delivers the properties of Lycra, such as the soft feeling and beautiful fit but also gives swimwear a longer life with less fading and without becoming as baggy. Xtra Life Lycra is resistant to chlorine and pool chemicals 5 - 10 times longer than regular Elastane. This makes Xtra Life Lycra an excellent choice as fitness or training swimwear for male and females. But choose a swimsuit with a high Polyester content and less Lycra, for longer life. We sell Xtra Life Lycra swimwear in both www.acquawear.com (Korean Swimwear and Kneesuits) and www.curvybathers.com (Kneesuits) shops. Our Korean made Kneesuits Jkuss and Tornado are extremely popular, because of the outstanding prints, soft and body hugging fabrics and styles with Lycra content 20%, see individual listings.
  • What is Chlorine Proof Swimwear? Does Acquawear Sell Chlorine Proof Swimwear?
100% Polyester and PBT swimwear fabrics are by far the most durable and long lasting. Although not as comfortable against the skin as Lycra based fabrics, Polyester/PBT blends are without a doubt the best training swimwear for men and women, due to their incredibly long lifespan. Chlorine proof swimwear has less stretch and thus provides a tighter fit and some people, maybe not as used to regular swim training, might find it constricting and need some time to get used to. The fabrics are less stretchy than Lycra so make sure that you check the size and measurements charts and read the advice of how the suits fit given by the seller, as they most likely have feedback not only from the manufacturer, but also from the customers. Swimsuits made of 100% polyester should retain their colour for at least a year of regular use, but most last much longer and are called chlorine proof for this reason. Chlorine resistant (proof) swimsuits also keep their shape because polyester isn't destroyed by chlorine like nylon or Spandex. Most of the top swimwear brands feature a range of durable PBT or 100% Polyester swimwear, and some brands manufacture exclusively their colourful swimsuits from durable fabrics. All our Delfina custom printed swimwear (except Kneesuits) for women or guys and for clubs are made out of chlorine proof fabrics and are the best choice for maximum swimsuit life and value for money. We stock also Korean brands in small sizes on our Acquawear website (Jkuss, Hoog and TSNine) chlorine proof swimsuits, just look for "T" in the product code and description (Tough, 100% Polyester).
  • Do you offer returns on water polo suits?
If you order from stock, the usual return / exchange terms and conditions apply. Custom printed items have different return terms. Please check the product or team order terms before confirming.
  • What are Sustainable Eco Fabrics? Do we Use Sustainable Eco Fabrics in Our Swimwwear?
Eco Fabrics - Carvico Xlance Eco For all our Delfina custom made swimwear (for Men and Women) SINCE 2021 (except Kneesuits), we use the Eco fabric Xlance, newly released by the Italian manufacturer Carvico. It is an eco-sustainable fabric designed to promote re-use, recycling and respect for our environment. According to Carvico, the fabric shows extraordinary performance in terms of resistance to chlorine, ensure perfect fit, exceptional comfort and a unique, contemporary and elegant ‘Made in Italy’ style, and they are revolutionizing the worlds of swimwear and sportswear. XLANCE fabrics put together XLANCE unique, high-tech elastomeric fibre and a selection of exceptional and eco-sustainable yarns to meet the requirements of the market and the latest swimwear and sportswear trends, Carvico explains. “Moreover, they are eco-sustainable. Carvico has always operated in the view to safeguarding the environment promoting a more sustainable fashion. XLANCE fabrics stem from a long and thorough research process for fully sustainable raw materials and production processes,” the company says. “XLANCE elastomer is produced without the use of solvents and can be thermoset at lower temperatures compared to fabrics containing standard elastomers thus reducing CO2 emissions and saving relevant amounts of energy.” “XLANCE elastomer is here mixed with several eco-sustainable yarns: ECONYL (used in XLANCE ECO), a 100% regenerated nylon yarn from pre and post-consumer waste materials such as discarded fishing nets, carpet fluff and tulle, and a regenerated polyester yarn from PET bottles (used in XLANCE PLAY).” “XLANCE fabrics ensure a perfect fit and maximum comfort and fits the body like a second skin adapting and shaping its curves and offering athletes support and maximum freedom of movement, Soft and pleasant to the touch, all these fabrics are suitable for printing (sublimation and digital). ”Sport as a lifestyle, wellbeing as a state of mind “XLANCE World by Carvico offers a selection of high-performance fabrics ideal for training and competition swimwear, which can satisfy the needs of every athlete without forgetting about an exclusive 100% made in Italy style and glamour,” the company adds.
  • How is Lycra Used in Swimwear?
Lycra (also known as Spandex or Elastane) is always mixed with another fibre, usually polyamide (known also as nylon) to give it resilience and stretch. A Lycra swimsuit will generally last less than 2-3 months if exposed to chlorine regularly, it will fade and becomes baggy as the chlorine breaks down the fibres. Lycra swimwear is a choice for leisure swimmers and those who seldom visit the pool, swim in open water or take a dip on holiday. The material is soft against the skin, very comfortable and the prices are generally cheaper.
  • How should my swimwear fit?
For the best fit, our swimwear made from Xlance Eco fabric should be snug, not baggy. This ensures you achieve the ideal shape in the water. The fabric has excellent stretch, so it will conform to your body comfortably. Make sure your suit is tight enough to provide support but not so tight that it restricts movement. A well-fitted suit enhances your swimming experience and performance.
  • Swimwear Care Advice
It is so easy to come home tired from the pool, lake, river or beach and just stick the swimsuit in the washing machine, together with the towel, and dry it after on a hot radiator or even stick it in the dryer! But please, DON’T DO IT!!! If you want your suit to last, keep its colours and shape, just DON’T DO IT! Remember to never wash your swimming costume with detergents or in a washing machine. Just give it a good rinse straight after exiting the pool and hang the suit to dry away from a source of heat, and this will ensure the longest possible lifespan for your swimsuit, whatever fabric it's made from. We have a lot of personal experiences in using swimwear, and if you think your suit has become a bit grubby with body oils or the algae from river / lake, just hand-wash it a bit more thoroughly in a basin, with some Fairy Liquid or any dish soap and hang it on a banister. Swimsuits that haven't been properly cared for, as per the manufacturer's label / seller's instructions - swimwear that has been machined washed, put in spinners, centrifuges, dryers will void any warranty.
  • Do you sell my personal details? Do you share them with Third Party?
The answer is a definite NO. We don't work with any other companies and our website doesn't let Google or any other companies advertise on it. The only personal data we use is for orders' delivery and replying to your questions. We email up to three newsletters / month, but if you don't want to receive them in the future, please unsubscribe at any time.
  • How can I pay for the items? Do I get a refund if I change my mind and return it?
We take Credit and Debit Cards through our provider, Stripe. We sometimes add Paypal to the checkout, but as their fees are double and non refundable for returns we prefer the Credit Card payments which are as safe as Paypal. Yes, you can return for a product refund (postage will not be refunded) or exchange. We prefer if you can accept an exchange, especially if your return is after the 14 days. If you are in doubt of what size you need, please ask for more advice. If you change your mind, you have to let us know within 14 days.
  • How does the swimwear sizing compare to the ladies UK clothing sizing?
The swimwear size on our website is the same as the Lingerie and Swimwear Sizing you use when buying a bra. We have measured some of the swimsuits (each individual style and size) and put them in a table for you to compare the measurements to the swimsuit you currently wear. Please see individual product for its own measurements chart. For all Waterpolo swimsuits, bear in mind that they are lined with the same fabric as the swimsuit, so that would make a difference to the fitting, so please allow an extra size up for the extra thickness. Manufacturer's chart with equivalent sizes also available for our eco friendly swim costumes.
  • Can I have a custom print made for myself and how long does it take for a custom print item to arrive? Can I customise the style?
Any past print can be made for you, but the minimum order is five pieces, so if you get together with friends and family, you can place this very small order together. It takes approximately 3 weeks to receive your custom suits. You can see the styles available on the Clubs page, but it is not possible to change or customise any of the features, except add personalisation.
  • 4. Do you ship internationally?
Yes—worldwide. To the UK we ship from Northern Ireland, combined DHL (from the factory to us) + Royal Mail (to the UK customer) To EU we ship by DHL, directly from the factory. To elsewhere in the world, it could be a direct delivery from the factory or combined (like above).
  • 5. What about returns?
Custom / Bespoke items cannot be exchanged or refunded (unless faulty).
  • How fast is delivery and can I return if it doesn’t fit?
We ship quickly across the UK and internationally. If your kneesuit isn’t the right fit, you can return it as long as the swimsuit is unused.
  • What if I’m unsure about sizing?
Kneesuits usually run smaller. If you’re unsure, we suggest sizing up 1–2 sizes. You can also message us for personalised advice.
  • Are your plus-size kneesuits suitable for competitive swimming?
Definitely. While they’re stylish enough for leisure, our kneesuits are made with performance fabrics that resist chlorine and salt, hold their shape, and stay comfortable in training or racing lanes. They don't have a FINA stamp, but they compress enough for low level competition events.
  • Do your kneesuits help with body confidence?
Yes! Many customers tell us they feel more confident because the suits are fully lined, supportive, and don’t ride up. The knee-length cut also provides extra comfort for women who prefer more coverage.
  • What makes a plus-size kneesuit different from a regular swimsuit?
A kneesuit offers longer leg coverage and a more streamlined fit, ideal for fitness swimming and modesty. Ours are specially designed for curvy and tall body shapes that need extra length and support.
  • How do I choose the right size for thermal tops?
Our thermal tops are designed to keep you warm both during and after your swim. Made from 100% stretch polyester, they fit snugly while allowing full movement. For the best fit: If wearing under a wetsuit or while swimming → choose a snug fit (go down one or two sizes from your swimsuit size). For post-swim warmth → pick a size close to your swimsuit size for comfort (but avoid going larger). Always check the Measurements Chart on each product page for precise sizing guidance. Many of our thermal tops also come in our signature Owls and Bluetits prints, so you can match them with your favourite swimsuits.
  • Do you offer returns or exchanges?
Yes. If your order isn’t quite right, you can return it within 14 days in its original condition. We’re always happy to arrange an exchange for a better size or style. Please note postage costs aren’t refunded unless the item is faulty.
  • What types of swim bottoms do you offer and how do they fit?
We offer three types of swim bottoms to suit different preferences: Unisex swim shorts – Made with our latest Xlance Eco fabric, designed with excellent stretch and durability. For the best performance in the water, ensure they fit snugly (not baggy) to achieve the ideal streamlined shape. Aqua briefs – Lightweight and flexible, these are also front lined for comfort. Bikini bottoms – Available as part of our mix-and-match bikini separates, made from 100% polyester, a fabric trusted by countless aquatic clubs for its proven quality and durability. 👉 Fit tip: Both the aqua briefs and bikini bottoms are made from our high-quality polyester fabric (the same used in professional club kits), ensuring comfort and longevity.
  • What types of bikinis do you offer and can I customize them?
Our bikinis are perfect for beach days, leisure swimming, and swim training. We offer: Tank bikini tops – supportive and versatile, designed to pair with any of our bikini bottoms. Bandeau bikini tops – stylish and comfortable, also compatible with our separate bottoms. All our bikini tops and bottoms are sold separately, giving you complete freedom to mix and match your size, style, and print. Team Kits & Custom Designs: Sports bikini tops and bottoms can be included in your custom team kit. Choose from our anti-fading colours, patterns, and text options to create your perfect design. Minimum order quantities apply. Visit our Clubs page for full customization options.
  • How do I choose the right size?
Each product page has a detailed size guide to help you find your perfect fit. If you’re between sizes, we generally recommend sizing up for comfort — especially with thermal tops that include a fleecy lining.
  • How should I care for my swimwear?
To keep your swimwear looking its best, rinse it in fresh water straight after swimming. Hand wash with a mild soap (no bleach or harsh detergents) and dry flat, away from direct heat or sunlight. Avoid wringing to help preserve the fabric.
  • Do you offer returns?
We aim to make fit and returns painless. Full details — including shipping options, costs and the returns policy — are on our Shipping & Returns page. If a suit doesn’t fit as expected, check the size guide and then contact customer services for exchange options. Custom printed items typically have different return terms. Please check the product or team order terms before confirming. There is no return on custom prints, unless faulty, so please make sure you order the right sizes for your team.
  • How long will my team order take?
Lead times vary by print and quantity. For a clear estimate, submit your team order request with sizes and artwork.
  • Do water polo suits run small?
Competition cuts are snug by design. If you prefer extra freedom, select a training style or size up. Check the size chart and torso measurement guidance.

  • Can I get matching water polo team caps or team bags?
We offer accessories and can supply team packs — contact us for availability.
  • Reasons For Wearing a Swim Hat
    - To make you more streamlined when swimming, especially for competitive swimmers. A swimming cap should keep your hair out of your face when swimming and will reduce water drag. - To protect your hair from chlorine damage: Especially if you wet your hair before putting your cap on and go in the pool, the caps will prevent your hair from becoming saturated with the chlorinated water. - Hygiene: People who swim without a cap lose hair in the pool which in turn will clog up the filters. - Warmth: If you swim in open water a swimming hat will help to keep you warm in the cold water. You could also double up the caps.
  • Swim Caps Misconceptions
They are not designed to keep your hair dry! If you read the instructions on our RAS swimming caps, they recommend you wet your hair before putting the cap on! Although some caps will do a good job keeping your hair dry, this is not their scope. If you want to keep your hair dry as much as possible, you can use a silicone cap which gives a tight fit and should keep most of the water out, or wear 2 caps.
  • How should I care for my swimwear?
Rinse in cool water immediately after swimming, roll in a towel to remove excess water, dry flat away from heat / sunlight, and avoid fabric softeners and machine washing to preserve elasticity and print.
  • Do you ship internationally?
Yes—worldwide. UK orders ship via Royal Mail; EU customers may prefer DHL to avoid unexpected customs fees. We ship from Northern Ireland.
  • What sizes are available?
We stock sizes 26–38; availability is shown on each product page. You can pre-order up to size 44.
  • What is your returns policy?
14-day refund (ex-postage) for new, unworn items with tags.
  • What brands do you stock?
Primarily Delfina, with JKUSS also referenced in our brand filters.
  • Are the fabrics chlorine-proof?
Yes—our Delfina men’s briefs and jammers use chlorine-resistant / eco fabrics designed for long-term pool use and colour-fastness. The JKUSS jammers are made from fabric which contains 20% Lycra.
  • Where can I see a wider men’s selection?
We keep a larger men’s / boy's range on our main site at Acquawear.
  • Can I order custom prints or club kit?
Yes—club kit is available (typical lead time 3–4 weeks). As a rule of thumb, past designs can be reordered from 10 pieces, while brand-new club designs may require ~20 pieces. Email us to confirm current MOQs and timelines.
  • Do you offer returns or exchanges?
Standard return policy applies, check measurements carefully before ordering.
  • Can I sign up for restocks?
No—these are final-run styles. We recommend browsing current shapes like SF333 or XBack if you prefer guaranteed availability.
  • Are discontinued thin-straps still available?
Yes, in limited quantities. Once stock runs out, these styles won’t return (except for Tieback).
  • What sizes are available here?
Generally 30–42, but ask us about pre-orders outside this range.
  • Are the straps adjustable?
No—SF333 uses fixed thin straps for a secure, streamlined fit. If you are after Tieback swimsuits just ask us.
  • Are the Classic Thin Straps SF333 suits lined?
Yes—front lining for comfort and opacity.
  • Can my club get a specific print / size run?
Yes, prints are available for teams and clubs. Contact us for pre-orders.
  • Is the fabric chlorine-proof?
Yes—built for frequent pool use in chlorinated water. We use Carvico XLance, an Eco fabric, for most of our swimwear.
  • What are the advantages of Water Polo swimsuits compared to regular swimsuits?
Water Polo swimsuits are designed with extra durability and performance features compared to standard training swimsuits. They are made from stronger chlorine-resistant fabrics, include full front and back double lining, and feature a high neckline with strong zip fastening and reinforces seams for a secure, locked-in fit. These details make them ideal not only for Water Polo players but also for swimmers who want maximum coverage, reduced drag, and a swimsuit that will last longer in heavy training conditions.
  • What’s the difference between SF821 and SF811 XBack swimsuits?
The SF821 is structured, longer, and less stretchy, with a high neckline and scooped back — ideal for training and performance. The SF811 has stretchier side panels, offering a softer, plus-size-friendly fit for everyday swimming.
  • How do I choose between XBack and WaterPolo?
Choose XBack for freedom of movement in the shoulders and a streamlined feel, or WaterPolo for maximum coverage and extra chlorine durability.
  • Are thick straps better for active swimming?
Not necessarily—it really comes down to personal preference. Some swimmers find that thick strap swimsuits feel more secure and supportive for long training sessions, while others prefer thin strap swimsuits, which can sometimes reduce the chance of chafing, especially in open water swimming or long-distance training. The best choice depends on your body shape, comfort, and the type of swimming you do most often.
  • Do thick-strap swimsuits have built-in bust support?
No. They don’t include underwires or padding. Instead, they are double-lined for reliable coverage and security.
  • Will the swimsuit stretch or loosen over time?
Stretch side panels adapt to your curves while Carvico Xlance fabric maintains shape and elasticity.
  • How should I choose my size?
Measure bust and hips. Size up if tall, long-bodied, or prefer looser fit; stay true to size if you want snug support.
  • Is it suitable for aqua fitness or swimming lessons?
Yes! Customers love SF811 for pool workouts, aqua aerobics, and open water swimming, thanks to secure X-back support.
  • Is the fabric chlorine-resistant?
Absolutely. Carvico Xlance eco-fabric resists chlorine, maintains elasticity, and holds colour with repeated use.
  • Is the SF811 suitable for big busts?
Yes! Thick X-back straps and plus-focused side panels provide gentle, even support without underwires.
  • How do I care for my SF811 swimsuit?
Rinse in cold water after each swim, hand wash with mild detergent, avoid fabric softeners, and dry flat in the shade.
  • Does it have underwire?
No. Support comes from the design, thick straps, and stretch panels.
  • Are the prints limited?
Yes — most of our prints are unique and designed in-house. Some are seasonal or one-time editions (like Christmas or Halloween), so once they’re gone, they may not return.
  • How long does a pre-order take to arrive?
Pre-orders take around 6 weeks from the time the swimsuit is listed. Each piece is made to order to ensure the best quality.
  • Can I suggest my own print or colour idea?
Absolutely. Many of our faithful customers inspire new prints. If you have a design or colour suggestion, just get in touch — we love hearing your ideas.

  • Which swimsuit styles can I pre-order?
You can pre-order selected XBack (SF811 & SF821), Thin-Strap (SF333), Kneesuits, and Water Polo styles. Sometimes we also include tops, bottoms, or thermal options. Only the styles listed on this page are available for pre-order.
